Why Doll Making?
Initially, Peggy Nisbet started making historic dolls as a way of making some extra money. The inspiration came from her visits to Quimper, France, (where she visited one of her old school friends immediately after the war). Here, beautiful hand made dolls dressed in local national costume could be seen the shops. In Britain there was nothing like this.
In a quote from an interview in the "Gloucestershire and Avon Life" in May 1980, Peggy admitted that as a child she never played with dolls.“.......but I enjoyed dressing them, and I think it is an indication of what 1 like doing now".
