Body Construction
The overwhelming majority of Nisbet dolls were made of a hard plastic or Styrene, but there were a few other materials that the collector might encounter - (See pane on the right).
Unlike many other contemporary makers' dolls, plastic Nisbets were generally solid, and this gives one of the most important clues to identification - The weight.
Solid plastic Nisbet dolls are considerably heavier than the similarly sized Rexards, which are hollow, being made of thin front and back shells, which were glued together.
This construction method used less plastic, and therefore, produced cheaper, (and potentially more fragile), doll bodies.
