Elvis Presley
Our researches lead us to believe that at least six different versions of the Elvis Presley doll were made. The one shown here is in our collection; we know that a further three prototypes, each in different costume variations, were sold as one lot in a UK auction house, some years ago. We think that between six and twelve prototypes may have been made, in total
Why was Elvis never put into production? As the doll pictures show, the likeness was excellent, and costume design would have presented no difficulties to the Peggy Nisbet Team. A conversation we had some years ago, with someone who had intimate knowledge of the Nisbet organisation, threw some light on the matter.
Apparently, prototype dolls were made, and the Presley management team were approached with the idea of producing an Elvis doll. The suggestion was rejected, and the idea had to be abandoned due to legal technicalities.
