Limited Edition (not numbered)
King George VI - Coronation Robes
Limited to the quantity produced in 1983 only
Shown here (above) in his Coronation Robes is the last King of England, King George IV, the father of our present Queen
Collectors should note that this doll, although issued in 1983, is shown above (in the 1983/1984 Catalogue ), wearing an earlier plastic version of the State Crown. This was superseded by the more elaborate and detailed cast metal crown shown in the first and second pictures above. This cast metal crown was introduced in February 1979, and is a useful guide to collectors in dating some dolls. We think that the doll picture above was from a prototype, dressed with the earlier plastic crown, simply for convenience
In particular, collectors should look out for early models of HM Queen Elizabeth II in her Coronation Robes, (model P/400), as any dolls wearing the plastic crown shown on this George VI (above) will have been manufactured prior to February 1979
