The most travelled pope in history, John Paul II was the first to visit the British Isles. The 264th to hold his office, he served for almost 26 and a half years, and survived two assassination attempts, one in May 1981 and another in May 1982. He died in April, 2005
Collectors of Nisbet dolls will know that there is another version of John Paul II, P/821, which shows him dressed in white and gold, and carrying a staff surmounted with a large gold crucifix
Robert Runcie served with distinction as a Tank Commander in the Scots Guards, and was awarded the Military Cross. Later, he became Bishop of St Albans, and was appointed Archbishop of Canterbury in 1980.
